During Stevia Tasteful Conference 2012, the scientific committee allocate a long time to Mrs Nicole Coutrelis from Lawyer at Coutrelis & Associés, Paris, France to present the EU regulatory frame on Stevia and Stevia extracts. 

 

Among principal question whiwh will be discussed during the conference, Mrs Coutrelis will answer about "With current regulation, can we import Stevia leaves in Europe?,

 According Mrs Coutrelis: "The EU has recently authorized stevia extracts (steviol glycosides) as sweeteners, for use in various foods (like beverages) as well as in table top sweeteners, [...] but all applications are not authorized either, and specific conditions are laid down".  

 

So, Mrs Coutrelis's presentation will address in detail the legal consequences of this situation, together with a reflection on perspectives for other applications than those presently authorized, for stevia extracts and for stevia leaves as well.
